The first step towards an effective remedy for ant stings is to soothe them. For this, the best thing you can do momentarily is to apply ice cubes. This will immediately make you feel better. Once the surface of your skin has cooled down, it will also show a reduction in swelling, which is always a side effect of ant stings. You will notice that there is a marked reduction in the reddening of the bitten area as well. The redness is also a typical symptom of ant stings. It is always good to know that ant bites have their own life span. For most part, they subside on their own within a short duration. Keep in mind that scratching the bites will only aggravate them further and cause more pain. Scratching the bites will also increase the itching sensation. So you are better off not touching them at all, let alone scratching the bites you have acquired.
For most effective results, you can use tea cubes. These are ice cubes made of tea. All you would have to do is make some tea and freeze it in an ice tray. The resulting cubes are very helpful in easing the itching and discomfort of the ant bites. Keep in mind that using green tea is better than using regular tea, since the former has healing properties. Rubbing plain, unflavored, unsweetened yogurt over any insect bites will ease the itching considerably and quickly. You can also leave it on your skin if you so desires. This will help by healing the skin too. You can apply a paste made with Fuller's Earth and rose water to the ant bites. This will help with healing as well as cooling. Remember that cooling the area is the best way to take care of the bites. Applying honey will also work very well. It will help to heal the sting and will also provide relief from itching. You must wash it off as soon as it begins to pull and stretch at your skin, however. Another highly effective solution is to apply calendula lotion to your at stings. This has healing properties and is naturally a very highly cooling agent. If you cannot find calendula lotion, you can also use calamine lotion. This is as good an alternative as any. Just remember not keep calamine on your skin for excessively long periods of time, especially in winter. This may actually cause chills!
