Dry rough hands are generally caused by unusually great exposure to water accompanied with lack of a proper care routine. In order to heal and permanently maintain your hands, you would have to follow a regular routine of care. The first thing to do is when you work with water; you must make it a point to keep your hands covered with rubber gloves. In the beginning you may find this difficult to do. But if you persist with it, it will not only get easier over time, it will also become extremely convenient. It is particularly important to keep your hands covered if you are using any strong soaps or detergents. Apart from this, you will also have to invest in a pair of pure cotton gloves. Each night before bedtime, you should follow a routine of cleansing and caring for your hands. First, soak them in warm water for about 10 minutes. After this, wipe them completely dry. Apply a nice and thick layer of any moisturizing cream to them and massage your hands for about 10 minutes. As the cream will get absorbed, you can keep replenishing the cream. Initially, you will see that you may have to use large quantities of cream. But this will ease off once your hands reach a basic level of good health and general condition. As an alternative to cream, you can also use olive or coconut oil. Both these oils have excellent healing properties and are also deeply moisturizing in nature. Coconut oil is a particularly viscous substance and will really help you out, especially in the beginning of your efforts. Once you have finished with the massage, you should wear your cotton gloves and go to bed. This will allow the cream to work its magic overnight as well.

To begin with, try to follow a twice a month routine of getting a manicure done. This will help to maintain the good health and condition of your hands. A manicure will also help by removing layers of dead skin from your hands, apart from moisturizing and cleansing them. When suffering from dry and scaly hands, it is also essential that you not apply nail enamel to them. This will only cause greater damage to your nails, thus adding to the damage caused to your hands. Following these simple routines on a regular basis will help you to have great looking and feeling hands permanently.
