If you want to grow your hair well and lustrously at home, you can make some simple dietary and cosmetic changes that will help you out in this direction. One of the first things to do is to start following a regular routine of hair care. Make it a point to ensure that your scalp and hair are clean at all times. Shampoo regularly, and do not be misled by the myth that excessive shampooing will lead to hair damage. The first thing is that this is not true. The second thing is that you can get a shampoo that is specially formulated for daily use. You will find that these shampoos are very mild. You must also make it a point to oil your hair and scalp twice a week. To do this properly, you would simply have to warm a bit of oil and rub it into your roots and scalp. A good massage this way will also help to boost your circulation and improve the rate of hair growth. Leave the oil on overnight and wash off the next morning as usual. Only if you have excessively dry hair should you use a conditioner. Otherwise this is not necessary. The oil is as good a conditioner as any. It is preferable to use evening primrose oil, which will promote hair growth and also work towards preventing hair loss. Alternately, you can also use olive oil, almond oil or coconut oil, as all work very well for hair and scalp maintenance.

You can also add to your maintenance routine by applying certain cosmetic things to your hair. The first of these would be fenugreek water that you have made yourself. Soak a tablespoon of fenugreek seeds in a glass of water and use this water to rinse out your hair and scalp. This will strengthen your strands and also prevent hair loss. If you can, make it a point to add fenugreek to your cooking as well. This is available quite easily and cheaply in Indian grocery stores, and is also not very expensive. The only hitch is that it tastes slightly bitter, so you may have to get used to that. Another product that can be applied to your scalp for promotion of hair growth is black cohosh. This can be soaked overnight and then applied the next morning. Just remember that you would have to follow these routines for at least a few weeks before you start seeing noticeable results.
