The hands are often the most overworked and ignored parts of the body. Chipped nails, brittle tips, peeling and cracking, scratches and infections are the most common hand problems. You can rid yourself of all these problems with easy home care. When doing any house cleaning work, wear rubber gloves to keep dirt and harsh chemicals from affecting your hands. Nails tend to puff up when soaked in water and shrink back when dry, causing them to become fragile so make sure that your hands are not immersed in water for prolonged periods.. Acetone can cause irritation and wrinkles, so use acetone-free nail polish remover as often as possible. Massage your hands, every night before you go to bed, with a few drops of coconut or Almond oil to keep your skin moisturized and soft. Alternately, you can apply a good portion of Vaseline or moisturizing cream and sleep wearing a pair of cotton gloves. Massaging your hands with half a lemon makes them soft, gets rid of unpleasant stains and smells and strengthens your nails. You can also apply cucumber juice mixed with a few drops of glycerin to make your hands soft. Mix a few drops of olive oil, almond oil, lemon juice and water and store it in a bottle. Apply a few drops of this solution on your hands before you go out to ensure that your hands are well moisturized.

Take equal proportions of tomato juice, lime juice and a few drops of glycerin, make a thick paste and apply it on your hands. You could also use a paste made of ground almonds, milk cream and a few drops of glycerin as this mixture acts as a good natural bleaching agent. You can enrich your hands by warming 100 ml of castor oil and almond oil each, mixing them with juice of 1 lemon in a bowl and soaking your hands in the mix for 10-15 minutes and massaging your hands.

Since hands are the first part of the body to show the sign of aging, a weekly manicure is a good idea. Equip yourself with nail cutter, nail filer, orange stick, cuticle pusher and nail brush. Remove the old nail polish, cut and file your nails. Then soak your hands in lukewarm water containing a mild shampoo (like baby shampoo) for 2 to 3 minutes. Rinse your hands throughly with water and then dry them with a clean towel. Apply an antiseptic cream and clean your nails with orange stick and cotton. Take a good moisturizing lotion and massage your hands for 5 minutes. A good massage helps in blood circulation, softening the skin and making your hands beautiful.
