Treating dryness of hair and brittleness separately

I have dry and brittle hair problems. In your articles there are treatments for dry and brittle hair separately, do I have to do all of them or should I treat dryness first and then brittleness?

Dry and brittle hair are not separate problems. Hair become brittle because of extreme dryness. So it's imperative that you treat dry hair and brittleness will take care of itself. There are many reasons for your hair to become so dry - extreme wind or sunlight, overexposure to sun, harsh chemicals in shampoo, conditioner, excessive coloring, ironing or blow drying. To tackle dryness of hair, don't shampoo your hair every day and use only mild shampoos (like baby shampoo) which will not strip your hair of protective oils. Don't wash your hair with hot water. Use blow dryer, hair curling or ironing devices sparingly. Be very gentle when shampooing and use your fingertips and not finger nails. A conditioner will bring back elasticity to your hair. Use a comb and not hairbrush on wet hair. Avoid hairbrush with plastic bristles.

You can expedite your hair treatment by following these regimes. Massage your scalp with olive oil or almond oil twice a week. Both the oils will not only bring back the lost moisture but also strengthen your hair. Applying mayonnaise on hair also rids of dryness, since the egg it contains is rich in proteins. Smear one tablespoon of full-fat mayo on your hair and spread it to the scalp. Cover your head with a plastic cap and rinse off hair after 30 minutes. you can also make a pre-shampoo conditioner of 3 eggs, 2 tablespoons olive oil and 1 teaspoon vinegar mixed together. Apply the mix to your hair and cover with a plastic cap. After 30 minutes, shampoo as usual. Another natural conditioner that works great is a mix of one tablespoon of glycerin and castor oil each, a teaspoon of protein and cider vinegar each and a tablespoon of mild herbal shampoo. Leave it on the scalp for 20 minutes. Rinse the hair. Egg is known to be great conditioner for hair. So beat a whole egg mixed with two tablespoons of olive oil. After an hour of applying this to the hair, wash with a mild shampoo. Coconut oil mixed with lime also takes care of dry hair. Apply castor oil to your scalp, soak a towel in hot water and wrap it around your head after squeezing the water out. After the towel cools off, repeat the process about four times before washing your hair. Do any of these regularly to bring back the sheen in your hair and make them stronger sooner than later.
