There are various things you can do to treat dark circles. But the first and most important thing to do is to ensure that you are tackling the problem at its root. Usually, the primary cause of dark circles is lack of sleep and stress. In order to remove dark circles, you should take care of these two things first. Rather than opting to take cosmetic measures to remedy the situation, it is better that you catch up on your sleep. You should be aware that eight uninterrupted hours of sleep are mandatory for a healthy and happy life. This will automatically show up when your dark circles are gone. If you have a high stress job, or an otherwise stressful lifestyle at home, then you should also be able to tackle this effectively first. There are several ways to beat stress. One of the best ones is a regular routine of exercise. If you can exercise everyday for at least 30 minutes, you will find that stress tends to stay away from you. This is mainly because exercise releases what are known as endorphins into your blood stream. Commonly known as "happy hormones", these are great mood uplifters and will work steadily towards reducing your levels of stress.

Apart from your lifestyle, there are also some cosmetic measures you can adopt in order to take care of your dark circles. One of the most effective remedies is to apply cucumber juice to them. This will ensure that your skin tone in that area is lightened over a period of time and equalizes with the rest of your face. You can also apply tomato juice instead of cucumber, but you will have to be extra careful with this, as it may burn if it gets into your eyes. Freshly squeezed potato juice will also have the same effect, as it also contains mild and natural skin lightening properties. All of these products can be applied and left on your face fro some time. This will help to get rid of your circles to a large extent. But you would have to follow these methods for some time before you can hope to see positive results. Do not expect miracles on a short term basis. It is also a good idea to massage the area around your eyes with warm olive oil. This will relax your muscles and will also help to remove your dark circles slowly, yet steadily.
