You have not specified why you get these brown patches on hands and legs and exactly where you get then either. In order to suggest a possible remedy for brown patches on skin, it is important to have these two pieces of information. Sometimes you will notice the presence of dark brown patches on spots such as the inner and outer elbow, the ankle bone, the knee cap or the knuckles. These are the commonest spots where skin not only darkens but hardens as well. You should be aware that this is most natural, and that beyond a particular age, it happens to everyone. If you are troubled with this particular problem, then there are some easy and effective remedies you can follow to take care of it. These will also help you to remove these dark spots. The first one is to regularly exfoliate the areas that have dark spots. Keep in mind that these remedies are being suggested for dark spots that may be present elsewhere on the arms and legs as well. So feel free to use them liberally. You can use any exfoliating scrub available in the market or make one of your own. An excellent one can be made with sugar crystals and olive oil mixed to make a paste. This can be scrubbed on the dark areas till the sugar crystals melt away. Using an exfoliating scrub will ensure that the top layer of dead skin is cleaned away. This is the layer that causes the maximum discoloration and patchiness.

Apart from this, you can regularly use a chopped tomato to scrub out the dark areas. Tomato is an excellent toner and will help to even out your skin tone to a large extent. It will also help to reduce darkness. Add a few drops of lime juice to this for best results. You can also use cucumber juice for the same results and reasons. This will also make a significant difference in reducing the discoloration. You can also apply citrus packs to the darker areas. These will help to clear out blemishes and will also help to tone and nourish your skin. An excellent pack can be made with oranges and lemons for this purpose. Mix the pulp of these two fruits with Fuller's Earth to make a spreadable paste. Periodically, you can also add pineapple to the mix. Try to use this mix on your patches once a week at least. This will show excellent results.
