Sweating is a completely natural process, and pretty much every single person experiences the problem of sweaty underarms, especially if they live in a hot and humid climate. If the climate is hot and humid, your body will produce a lot of sweat in order to cool down, and the sweat takes time to evaporate. Since the underarms typically do not get much air circulation, sweat accumulates and your underarms stay wet.
This is usually a minor problem, and to some extent it just has to be borne, unless you are able to spend all your time in an air conditioned environment. Assuming that this is not possible, the best remedy is to wear clothes made of natural fibers, preferably cotton. Synthetic materials usually trap more heat and cause your body to sweat more. In addition, many synthetic materials tend to trap moisture as well - as a result you not only end up sweating more, you also take longer to dry.
Avoid using antiperspirants - their effects on health are still not entirely clear, but there seem to be strong indications that they are harmful. Chemicals used in antiperspirants could be toxic and carcinogenic, and are also dangerous for people with kidney problems. Some antiperspirants also react with sweat and thus stain clothes, although this is a minor consideration when compared with the health risks. Deodorants on the other hand are usually safe - they are meant to only fight body odor and do not stop sweating, and therefore typically do not contain harmful chemicals. One traditional and rather safe deodorant is alum - either ammonium alum or potassium alum. Alum has antiseptic and astringent properties, so it controls both sweating and bacterial growth (which is responsible for bad odor) to a substantial extent.
If your sweating problem includes excessive body odor, then you should also look at your diet. Unpleasant body odor is mainly caused by bacteria, but strong spices, garlic in particular, tend to affect the odor of your sweat itself. Bacteria thrive and moisture, and if you are sweating all the time, you are quite likely to have a body odor problem, so the only remedy is to bathe frequently and use alum in order to minimize the bacterial buildup.
If your underarms are constantly sweating regardless of the weather and your clothes, then there is some underlying problem that needs to be looked into. If this is the case, you will need to visit a doctor for a checkup. The condition is usually known as hyperhidrosis, and can be caused by anxiety or by certain foods.
