The "sunlight effect" that you talk about is simply known as a tan, and is the natural result of exposing skin to sunlight for long periods of time. Your skin contains a pigment that is called melanin, and this pigment gives skin its color. Your genes determine the amount of melanin that is produced by your skin, and while you cannot decrease this amount, you can increase it. The most common way in which the amount of melanin in the skin is increased is by exposure to sunlight. Melanin is a protective pigment, and as you know, sunlight contains UV rays that are harmful for us. Therefore, when your skin is exposed to sunlight for a long period of time, it starts to produce more melanin so as to block the sunlight. Obviously, more melanin means that the skin becomes darker.

You should stop worrying about the color of your skin so much. Most people have the same uneven skin color - the skin on parts of the body that are frequently exposed to sunlight is usually darker than skin that is always covered. The skin on the face, neck, hands, and often arms and feet too is usually darker than the rest of the skin. Sunbathers also develop tan lines, which are basically the same thing, and they are not considered to be any kind of blemish.

If the contrast between tanned skin and un-tanned skin is extreme, then some people do find that it looks a bit odd. However, there is no home remedy to get rid of a tan. Over time, the excess melanin that was produced will be discarded, and your skin will return to its normal color - provided you do not continue to expose it to sunlight. If you want, you can try home remedies such as applying a mixture of honey, milk, and turmeric powder, or rubbing your skin with a slice of potato. However, even if these remedies work at all, they will not lighten your skin very much. You will just have to be patient while the tan fades, which could take several months or even more than a year, depending how much your skin has tanned. In the meanwhile, try and ensure that you cover your head, arms, and feet whenever you are outdoors during the day. If you spend a lot of time in the sun, this is very important, not just because of the way your skin looks, but because too much sunlight can damage your skin.
