It sounds like you have hyperhidrosis, which is a medical condition that is characterized by excessive sweating. Sweating is of course a natural phenomenon that is used by the body primarily for the purpose of regulating the body temperature. Some people sweat more than others, and these individual differences are completely natural, and only to be expected. However, in some cases, sweating is quite obviously excessive - much more than is needed to control the body's temperature. This is known as hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis sometimes affects the entire body, but the parts that are most affected by this condition include the hands, feet, groin, and, as in your case, the armpits.

The causes of hyperhidrosis are not fully understood, but it seems quite certain that there is a psychological factor. Therefore, it may help if you consult a psychologist. Before that however, there are other things that you can do on your own. First of all, try to objectively determine whether you suffer from excessive anxiety, as this is a known contributing factor to hyperhidrosis. For many people, this becomes a vicious cycle, as they sweat when they are anxious, and the excessive sweating then causes them to become still more anxious. It is important that you try to break this cycle of anxiety - try to calm yourself down by focusing on some activity or plan, rather than focusing on your anxiety and the fact that you are sweating excessively. Meditation, yoga, or hypnosis may also be of help here.

Some foods and beverages also seem to contribute to hyperhidrosis, and you should keep any eye out for any signs of this. If you are able to find any such triggers, then you need to reduce your intake of them, or if possible, avoid them entirely. Common culprits include tobacco, alcohol, tea, and coffee.

Apart from this kind of prevention, your only option is surgery. Of course, you have not mentioned exactly what treatments you have tried and what doctors you have visited, so before you start considering surgery, you should get a second opinion from a specialist. There may be some treatment option that you have not yet tried. If you are sure that you have tried all the possible medications, then you can consider surgery. Most surgical procedures focus on the nerves that control sweating, rather than on the sweat glands themselves, and are successful in the majority of cases.
