Eggs are a very useful ingredient in a number of home remedies for both the skin and the hair. There are numerous ways in which you can incorporate eggs into your skin care regime, including face masks and scrubs, and they can be used by themselves, or mixed with other ingredients. Eggs themselves are good for the skin, but in addition, the egg white can often be used as the base for other beneficial substances, such as sandalwood powder, rice flour, and so on. Most people recommend using only the egg white, but others use both the white and the yolk.

If you want to use eggs by themselves, then the simplest and most popular treatment involves using the egg white as a face mask. Simply apply the egg white to your skin (some people recommend whisking it first, till it becomes frothy), allow it to dry, and then wash it off with plain water. This makes your skin look soft and bright, and tightens stretched pores. However, the effect of this treatment is largely temporary, and you can get a lot more benefits for your skin if you use other ingredients along with eggs. Honey is great for the skin, and mixes well with egg to make for a great face mask and moisturizer. Simply mix an egg white with a teaspoon of honey, apply the mixture to your face, and wash it off after 20 minutes.

Egg is a great ingredient in a number of home made exfoliating treatments too. You can mix an egg with a tablespoon of oatmeal - mix it thoroughly for a few minutes, till it forms a paste - add a little honey if you like, apply the paste on your face, and then gently scrub your face with your fingertips for a few minutes. You can also mix an egg (or only the egg white) with walnut powder, or with a bit of sandalwood powder and rice flour, and use the resulting paste in the same way. Yet another home made exfoliate uses a mixture of egg, gram flour, and a couple of pieces of banana.

Lemon juice is an excellent toner, and you can mix it with the white of an egg, add a few pieces of papaya, and apply this paste on your skin. However, if you have dry skin, this treatment might not be suitable, as the lemon will probably dry your skin further.
