Your oily skin is probably contributing to the pimple problem, but if you frequently develop pimples, then it may not be enough to address the oiliness alone. People with oily skin often tend to suffer from acne, because the oil causes dead skin cells, dirt, and bacteria to accumulate on the skin's surface and the dead cells then end up blocking pores. The blocked pores then accumulate sebum, which is broken down by the bacteria. This is typically how pimples are formed. In a number of cases, the oiliness is itself the main cause of the pimples, but sometimes it may only be an aggravating factor, and there may be a problem with the way the skin gets rid of dead cells.

To begin with however, you need to address the oiliness. One thing you need to do is wash your face several times a day. However, avoid using soap more than once or twice a day. Soap may seem like a good idea because it gets rid of all the oil, but this resulting dryness will most probably prompt your skin to increase sebum production, thus increasing oiliness. Apart from washing, you can also use a home made cleanser, such as a mixture of honey and lemon juice. Apply this on your skin at least once a day, and wash it off after a couple of minutes. Alternatively, you can use a commercially available cleanser. A cleanser that contains hydroxyl acids is preferable, and if this does not seem to help you can switch to one that contains salicylic acid. Salicylic acid is an important ingredient in many anti pimple treatments, as it helps to get rid of dead cells from the skin's surface. If the frequent cleansing seems to irritate or dry the skin excessively, you can use a small amount of light, thin moisturizing lotion immediately after the cleansing. Some cleansers, particularly those containing hydroxyl acids or salicylic acid, include a small amount of moisturizing ingredients, so you should check for this. Otherwise however, moisturizers should be avoided at all times. You should also ensure that your cosmetics and any other skin products are all non oily.

If you continue to develop pimples, you may need to start using an anti pimple cream. The cream must contain either salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. Note however, that pimples may take a long time to completely disappear, so any treatment may take a couple of months to show any results.
