Causes of variation in color of feet and other parts of body, improving color of feet

I am a 19 year old college student and the skin of my feet is dark compared to others. Please suggest measures by which I can improve my feet!

Darker skin on any part of the body can be a result of repeated exposure of the body part to the direct rays of the sun. If your feet are left exposed most of the time, irrespective of you being indoors or outdoors, then you will find that they will always remain darker than the rest of your body. One of the easiest solutions to take care of this problem is to keep your feet covered. If you are in a cool or cold climate, this will become easier to follow. If you live in a warm place, then it may just be a tough proposition to keep your feet covered with socks. Try and get a light pair of cotton socks to wear when you are at home. Each time you go out, you should make it a point to apply a generous layer of sun screen lotion to your feet. This alone will help largely by not making your feet darker to begin with. Each night before you sleep, you should try to wash your feet with soap and water. After this, apply a layer of freshly squeezed lime juice to your feet. Keep this on for about 30 minutes and then wash off with plain water. Then you should apply a grease free moisturizer to your feet. This should be a daily routine for you.

You should also try to exfoliate your feet about once a week. If you can do this more frequently, then it is always better. Exfoliation with a gentle scrub will help clear your feet of dead skin that has a tendency to accumulate. If you can, use sugar scrub, as this will automatically disintegrate after a while, so there is very little chance that you will scrub too much. Adding a few drops of hydrogen peroxide to the scrub will also help to lighten the color of your skin quite well. You should also make sure that it is not excessive sweat that is accumulating at your feet. There are a large number of sweat glands on the soles of your feet, but some may also be present and rampantly active on the tops of your feet. Not everyone has them, but some people do, and this will tend to make their feet sweat more. Excess perspiration will also darken your feet. The only way to escape this is to apply baby powder to your feet at all times.
