Contact dermatitis occurs when you develop an allergic reaction to something. Find out what you are allergic to and stop using those things. If you have a sensitive immune system then even the everyday things might cause an allergic reaction to you. Detergents, soaps, wristbands, belts, etc can also cause an allergic reaction. Once you know what's causing your allergic reaction you can avoid those things and easily cure contact dermatitis. If the problem has been for a long while and is severe, then you might need to see a dermatologist. Meanwhile you can take care of some general things in your day-to-day life. Prevent your skin from drying by keeping it well hydrated. Drink lots of water and fresh fruit juices throughout the day. Have a healthy and balanced diet. Moisturize your skin using a mild fragrance free moisturizer. You could also try a mix of glycerine and honey. Take 2 teaspoons of honey with 1 teaspoon of glycerine. Add a little bit of water to it and mix well. Apply this mixture on the affected area and leave on for about 10 - 15 minutes. Wash off using cold water and pat dry with a soft towel. Alternatively you could also use a mix of 1 tablespoon each of apple cider vinegar and honey. Both these remedies greatly help in moisturizing and soothing the skin. Do not scratch the affected area, as it would make your problem worse.

Avoid using strong detergents and cleaners. Instead use mild fragrance free soaps and detergents. Wear waterproof gloves with cotton lining inside while doing the daily household chores. These will help to avoid contact with harsh cleaning chemicals and the cotton lining inside the gloves will absorb the sweat and prevent itching. Sooth the affected area with a mix of 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar added to a glass of cold water. Soak a clean cloth in it and wrap it around your hands. The apple cider vinegar has antibacterial properties and helps to relive the itching along with the cold water. You may also try using cold tea compress. It helps in soothing the affected skin. Calendula gel is also known to be helpful in treating contact dermatitis. You can find this at health stores. Aloe vera gel is also helpful in the treatment. It is best if you have a plant at home so you can get a fresh supply every time. Slice the leaf in half, spoon out the gel and apply it directly on the affected area. If you can't find fresh leaves then buy pure aloevera gel from the health stores.
