From your description it seems you are probably suffering from burning mouth syndrome. Burning mouth syndrome is a condition where you experience burning sensation on the tongue, the roof of the mouth, the gums, the inside of cheeks, and the back of mouth or throat. The exact cause of burning mouth syndrome is not always easy to find. There may be various different conditions contributing to the development of burning mouth syndrome. Some of these are - diabetes, menopause, nutritional deficiency, and bacterial or fungal infection of mouth. It, therefore, becomes necessary to identify the cause of burning mouth syndrome for treating it effectively. Burning mouth syndrome can persist for a long time. The burning sensation may become severe as the day progresses. As a result, there will be discomfort and restlessness in the body, which in turn may affect your sleep and your mood. It is advisable to see a dentist for medical advice in case your burning sensation does not relent.

You can try some of the following home remedies to treat the burning sensation of your mouth. However, first you will need to see if the burning sensation occurs due to any particular substance like toothpaste, mouthwash, chewing gum, tobacco, certain fruit juices, soft drinks, etc. If you see any of these linked with your burning sensation, immediately avoid them. An effective home remedy for burning tongue syndrome is Tabasco sauce. Capsaicin, a chemical found in Tabasco sauce, helps reduce the burning sensation by acting on the malfunctioning nerve cells in your mouth. Take a few drops of Tabasco sauce and mix it with water. Rinsing your mouth several times in a day with this solution can help you find relief. Remember that this solution may seem counter-productive and can further aggravate the situation initially. So, be a bit patient and do it regularly for at least a day or two. If, however, it does not improve your condition afterwards, discontinue the practice. Cold apple juice can also provide relief. You can rinse your mouth with cold apple juice as frequently as possible. You may also need to undergo a bit of lifestyle change to better tackle the condition of burning mouth syndrome. Avoid tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, spicy foods, and citrus fruits like orange. Avoid soft drinks and coffee as well. Also, eat healthy, drink plenty of water, exercise regularly, and cut down on stress. These small lifestyle changes do have a positive effect on your body and in turn helps heal your body faster.
