Deep scales on soles of feet and fissures on heels due to slapping motion of slippers

How to get rid of deep scales on the sides of soles of my feet? Also have fissures on heels. I wear rubber flip flops all day, feet are not damp but maybe too dry?

Your basic problem lies in your choice of footwear. If you are wearing rubber flip flops all day, then the constant slapping motion of the slipper will have hardened the skin on your feet over time. Once the skin of the feet becomes so hard, the repetitive and constant slaps from the slipper will tend to crack the hard skin. In all likelihood, this is what has happened to you. It is not as much as the fact that the skin is dry, as it is that it has become hard and therefore brittle. When skin becomes brittle, a mere tap can crack it open quite effortlessly. You need to take preventive measures so that this does not become a permanent feature. To start with, think about changing your footwear. For a few days at least, try to wear soft shoes that have a sling back strap. This will prevent the slapping motion of the slipper against the base of your foot and will help to prevent further cracking right away. If possible, you should opt to wear closed shoes and socks. Wear thick and comfortable cotton socks. This is important so that your skin gets a cushion to rest against.

You should also follow a routine of basic skin care to heal and close the cracks on your feet. Each night before going to bed, you should wash your feet well and thoroughly with warm water. After this, pat dry and apply a thick layer of moisturizing cream to your feet. If you do not want to use a cream, you can also massage your feet for about 10 minutes with warm olive oil. This is a superb moisturizer. You should wear cotton socks to sleep. You will notice that the finer cracks and lines disappear almost overnight. Over a couple of weeks, you will see the difference visibly. You should also make it a rule to apply a deep moisturizing lotion or cream in the morning after a bath. It is essential that your skin be pampered back to its original state, because it has been treated somewhat roughly and for a long time. You can also go to a salon and get a paraffin pedicure about once a month. This kind of heated treatment is essential to restore the softness of the skin on your feet. You should also get a regular pedicure once a month if possible. This will maintain your feet in good condition.
