Eczema is a skin condition that is characterized by excessively dry skin, usually caused due to inflammation of the top layer of skin. Although there is no known cause for this condition, there are several ways in which it can be contained and controlled. The basic form of treatment will lie in keeping the skin well moisturized and hydrated using products that have very high oil content. It is important that you take care of keeping your skin moisturized, otherwise the manifested symptoms of eczema may just worsen. In some cases, eczema may also be triggered with the use of some substances that you may be allergic to. While this is not the commonest way for it to appear, it is definitely known to happen. People can have exaggerated cases of eczema because they have used a skin product that did not suit them. This could include any soap, perfume, cosmetic or cream. You should take particular care that you use only hypo allergenic creams and lotions that suit your skin. Do patch tests before you start using them. Apply a small dab of the substance on the inner skin of the elbow and leave it on. If you have not had any adverse reaction, chances are that you can use this product successfully.

You should make sure you do not use soap that is heavy on carbolic. This will most probably react negatively with your skin. Use a soap free cleanser, and try to get a soap free shampoo as well. Make sure you moisturize your skin deeply every night before going to bed. This is the best time to allow the moisturizing agent you use to work on your skin undisturbed. You should also keep a small tube or jar of the cream at hand to use during the day on particularly itchy spots. The best product to use for this condition is clarified butter to which a bit of turmeric powder has been added. The turmeric will help to heal sores if you have any, while clarified butter also has deep greasing properties which will not allow your skin to become dry easily or quickly. Dab this on while it is warm to the particularly scabby areas for excellent results. However, do not neglect overt eczema if it does not show any signs of abating for a month after trying home remedies. This may aggravate your condition and make matters worse for you later.
