Acne refers to a common skin problem which affects many people between the age of 13 and 30, but some people continue to have such skin problems till they are 40 years of age. Though it is primarily caused by hormonal factors, acne can also be caused due to an imbalanced diet and unhealthy lifestyle. Chronic constipation is a major cause of acne, since this leads to the accumulation of toxic substances in the body which is finally eliminated by the body in the form of acne. Excessive consumption of fried and greasy foods, starchy foods and refined flour and sugar is another reason for acne problems. In order to effectively combat acne problems you should monitor your diet and ensure that you consume a healthy potion of fresh fruits and vegetables with adequate liquids to ensure regular bowel movements. It is crucial to drink plenty of water so that your system is cleansed naturally and your skin is naturally moisturized. Apart from this you can also use a number of home remedies to effectively treat and prevent acne problems.

If you suffer from acne problems, you should ensure that you have a proper skin care regime with cleansing, toning and moisturizing. You can avoid moisturizing if you have oily skin, but cleansing and toning is a must for all skin types. You should try and use a natural glycerin based soap or face-wash that will cleanse the skin without moisturizing it. An anti-bacterial soap is also beneficial if you are prone to acne. After washing your face you should always tone it by wiping the face with a cotton ball soaked in astringent. This helps to close the open skin pores and gets rid of the any residue dirt that might have accumulated in the open pores, clogging them and leading to blackheads and whiteheads. Regular application of a face pack prepared with fine oatmeal and fresh yoghurt is beneficial for treating acne problems. You can also apply a paste of sandalwood powder and rose water on your face and wash it off after 15 to 20 minutes using cool water. This is excellent for getting rid of pimples and also for lightening any ugly acne scars. A face-pack prepared with dried and powdered orange peels and raw milk is also beneficial for getting rid of acne without leaving behind ugly scars. Application of a paste of cinnamon powder and honey on the pimples before sleeping helps to get rid of them fast without leaving behind ugly scars. You can also wipe your face regularly using a cotton ball that has been soaked in mint juice or lemon juice to treat acne and gradually lighten the scars left behind. Alternately you can apply the juice of a tomato on your face and wash it off after around half an hour using cool water. This leaves the skin squeaky clean and also helps to fade acne scars.
