In order to make your hair smooth and shiny, you need to ensure that it is not frizzy and remains free of dirt and dandruff. In order to achieve this, you will have to make some minor changes in how you approach your hair and its general daily care. To begin with, you must stop using any and all types of plastic implements on your hair. This would include combs, brushes, clips and bands of all types. The reason for this is that plastic, being a manmade substance, generates static electricity in your hair, thus making it dry and frizzy. Instead, you should use natural materials such as cloth covered rubber bands, wooden clips and combs and so on. This will not cause any friction in your hair and remove dryness as well as frizz, thus giving it a well polished look. The next thing you must make sure you do properly and well is follow a routine of daily care and management of your hair. This should include brushing it out twice a day with a wooden comb or brush. At night, make sure you do not tie your hair, as this will tend to break the strands mid length. Sleep with your hair left loose, and as much as possible, try to leave it loose. This will always prevent mid strand breakage.

You should also try to apply a generous coat of hair oil to your scalp and strands at least once a week. Use warm oil to massage in gently. The entire process should not take less than 15 minutes. Try to leave this on overnight and wash off as usual the next morning. This alone will make your hair extremely smooth and shiny. You can pick from olive, almond or coconut oil. All of these are very rich in nutrition and will help to keep your hair in really good condition. It is always advisable to get your hair trimmed every eight to 10 weeks. This will not allow split ends to occur and will also keep your hair healthy. Regular trims are necessary so that hair does not become rough towards the end of the hair shaft. You should also try to avoid exposing your hair to the harsh elements of nature, particularly the sun. This will tend to dry your hair out and sometimes even discolor it to a large extent. A combination of these methods should help you with your hair.
