Cutting hair while suffering from post delivery alopecia

I am 20 years old and my baby is 5 months old, I have severe hair fall from past 1 month - will hair cutting be a good idea to stop the hair falling? Can you give me a good suggestion?

If your baby is only five months old, you should wait before you do anything at all. Your body is still recovering from the changes that it had undergone during pregnancy and delivery and will take around seven months more to come back to its normal state. Before you do anything at all, this should be the first thing you need to know. A lot of women experience better quality of hair and skin during their pregnancy and also for a few months after delivery. This is a result of many hormonal changes that have happened in the body, as well as the result of a relatively healthy and rich diet. It is possible that you are suffering from what is commonly known as post delivery alopecia. This is the time when the hair starts to fall, because your body is adjusting to the normal hormonal levels that you had before your pregnancy. This also the time is when babies are introduced to solids and therefore, a breast feeding mother's diet also becomes less in terms of quantity as well as quality. This manifests itself automatically with symptoms such as hair fall and poorer skin.

You should ideally wait for a few months more and you will see your hair return to its normal state. But in any case, getting a shorter hair is not a bad idea. The reason for this is that with a small child, it may be extremely demanding for you to take care of maintaining long hair. Short hair is easier to manage and will also be easier to improve in terms of texture and thickness. But even with short hair, you can take some steps to maintain quality. For example, try to oil your scalp and hair with pure olive oil at least once a week. This alone will add to the thickness and quality of your hair. It will also strengthen the roots of your hair and prevent undue hair fall. If possible, leave this on for a couple of hours before you wash it off. The other thing you should do at least once a month is hot water fomentation. This means that you should wrap hot towels around your head when the oil is applied. This will allow the oil to penetrate your scalp and hair roots and will enable your hair to get nourished from deep within. You should also apply a paste made with henna powder and fresh yogurt to your hair about once a month. This will deep condition your hair.
