Lips getting stained because of drinking one cup of tea or coffee a day

I do not drink much coffee and tea but over the years it seems to have stained my upper lip and now I put makeup on it all the time, how to get rid of this coffee tea stain?

It is unlikely that drinking tea and coffee has stained your lips. The "staining" effect is usually seen only in heavy drinkers of tea and coffee, and if you are really sure that you don't drink much of either one, then this is probably not the reason your lips have become dark. A cup a day can be considered quite moderate by most standards, and is unlikely to have any effect on your lip color. You need to consider other possible reasons for your upper lip turning dark. You should also consider whether you have suddenly started paying excessive attention to your lips, and have therefore only just noticed something that has existed all along.

Tobacco smoking and chewing are known to affect lip color, but since you have not mentioned either one, I assume that you have neither habit, and this cause can also be ruled out. Another possibility is very mild irritation by some other substance that you consume regularly. This is unlikely to affect solely your lips, but it is worth keeping any eye out for such a possibility. If you are a woman and regularly use lipstick, this could also be the cause of the darkening. Cheap lipsticks are a common cause of dark lips, but in a few cases, even good quality, expensive lipsticks can have negative effects on skin that is highly sensitive. You should first ensure that you use only good quality cosmetics, and if you already do this or if the change has no effect after a month, you should avoid using lipstick at all for another month.

Exposure to sunlight can also darken your lips, although this skin does not tan as much as the skin on the rest of your body. There does not seem to be any reason why only the skin of your upper lip would get tanned, however, to be on the safe side you can try using a lipstick or lip gloss that provides sun protection. Ensure that the product has an SPF factor of at least 20, and be sure to use it whenever you are going to be outdoors during the day.

In the meanwhile, you can also try a simple home remedy to lighten your lips. Mix half a teaspoon of honey with a little lemon juice, and rub this mixture on your lip twice a day, for a few minutes, after which you can wash it off with plain water.
