The first thing you should know about this is that this is not a normal situation under any circumstances. In the first place, it rarely happens. And to lose them painfully is a complete mystery. There is an extremely low percentage of people born with a particular condition known as nail atrophy. It is possible that your child could be one of them. But this condition is so rare that if you go to a regular general practitioner, they may not be able to diagnose it. You would have to visit a large facility, which has various options for specialized medicine available at its disposal. You may be able to find some help here. In any case, there is very little information available about this particular condition generally as well. If indeed your child is suffering from some type of nail atrophy, it is possible that this has happened as a side effect of some other disease. This is also not unheard of. Sometimes, some kinds of medication lead to the nail reaching such a state of weakness that it literally falls off without any problems.

You would need detailed medical examinations to tackle this problem to begin with. It is inadvisable to give you any kind of suggestions, because anything may simply backfire on you completely. If you start giving the child medication or change his diet so that it becomes calcium rich, this is not a guarantee that the atrophying of the nail will stop. It could very well happen that the nail gets thicker and stronger and still falls off. It could also happen that the stronger and thicker the nail gets, the more it will hurt the child when it does finally fall off. The only thing you can do, really, is to provide relief from any painful situation to the child. This can be done by massaging the nails of the child with olive oil on a regular basis. This will help with providing relief from any discomfort and will also help to heal the nail. Even when the nail falls off, if there is any rawness of the skin, you can take care of healing it. Apply a paste made of turmeric powder and clarified butter to the finger tips. You can make it a point to also give the child a glass of warm milk every night to which half a teaspoon of turmeric powder has been added for healing from within the body.
