It is extremely important to take good care of your hair and keep it clean and free of oil and grime. It is also equally important that you stick to a healthy diet and drink plenty of water.

If you live in an area with hard water, your hair texture will suffer and you might suffer from excessive hair fall, especially if your hair is already weak. In order to reverse the effects of the hard water on your hair you can resort to a number of simple home remedies that will treat any hair fall problems due to the water and restore the healthy shine to your hair. The most important and effective home remedy for hair damaged due to hard water is regular massage of the scalp with some warm oil. You can use coconut oil, almond oil, jojoba oil or even olive oil. Heat the oil slightly and then massage your scalp vigorously using the tips of your fingers. This helps to improve the circulation of blood in your scalp and thus strengthens the hair follicles and improves the health of your hair.

Apart from a regular oil massage, you should use mild shampoos with a natural base to wash your hair, and always remember to condition it after you shampoo it. Before you shampoo your hair, you can apply a paste of fenugreek seeds, which have been soaked overnight and ground to a paste, on your scalp. Apply mayonnaise to your hair and cover it with a clean piece of linen or a shower cap around 30 minutes before you wash your hair. This is an excellent way to naturally nourish and condition your hair.

You can also make your own natural shampoos at home. There are several courses and books available that will guide you through this process. Natural shampoos are very effective in treating damaged hair as they help to replenish lost essential fatty acids and nutrients. Some excellent natural hair conditioners are vinegar, beer and even lemon. Once you have washed your hair, you can rinse your hair with a can of beer diluted in a bucket of water. Alternately you can rinse your hair with vinegar diluted in water in the ratio of 1:4 or squeeze the juice of 1 lemon into 1 mug of water and rinse your hair with it. This will make your hair shine and restore the healthy bounce to your mane. Above all, you should ensure that you have a balanced diet with plenty of proteins and Vitamins, especially Vitamin A, B complex vitamins and Folic acid which are good for the hair.
