Home remedies for dark circles

If you have dark circles and dull skin, chances are that you are suffering from an age old problem known as tiredness. Exhaustion leads to dullness of skin and lack of sleep and eye strain are very powerful reasons for dark circles. If you are exhausted, you know that you should be resting more in order to take care of your situation. Your dark circles, however, are another matter. You can develop eyestrain due to reasons such as staying in a dry environment for prolonged periods of time, reading in less light, too much crying, not enough sleep and rest or overusing your eyes before the computer. If any of these reasons apply to you, eliminate them from your lifestyle at once.

For dark circles, follow some easy remedies at home. Keep cool cucumber slices on your eyes for about 10 minutes, thrice a day, this will lead to your eyes being less tired. You can apply and pulp of a tomato and pineapple under your eyes and let it stay for about 20 minutes. Wash with plain water. This will help to lighten your dark spots as well as help to fight formation of fine lines. Applying milk cream to your dark circles with a few drops of lemon or lime juice added to it will also help tremendously.

Natural Treatment for Dark Circles

Your skin being dull is basically due to dryness — fancy creams are not necessary to moisturize your skin, any ordinary moisturizer will do. However, no matter what moisturizing cream or lotion you use, if you are not drinking enough water, your skin will continue to look dull and parched. Make sure that you drink around 10 glasses of water a day. In addition, you should apply the moisturizer as soon as you bathe, when your skin is still damp, so that the cream or lotion helps your skin hold on to the moisture it has absorbed. Using the moisturizer at other times will not be as useful.

Dark circles under the eyes are an entirely different problem. The only possible common factor is dehydration, for which you need to drink more water everyday. What is more likely, however, is that you are not getting enough sleep or are suffering from anemia or some allergy. The circles could also be due to some medication that you are on, so you should check with your doctor. Traditional remedies such as placing slices of cucumber or tea bags on the eyes will help, but only temporarily. If getting more sleep does not get rid of the dark circles, you should consult your doctor.
