Pregnancy brings with it a large number of changes which continue in the postpartum period. The immense hormonal changes in the body cause several changes in a woman's physique as well as her personality. The more obvious physical changes perceived in a woman during and after pregnancy include weight gain, hair loss and a change in the skin texture. While some women benefit from pregnancy and have glowing skin through their child bearing stage, most women suffer from the hormonal changes and suffer a wide gamut of skin problems ranging from dull, lifeless skin to acne and rash. Rash occurring during or after pregnancy usually affects the lower parts of the body so a rash that is appearing on the face could also be due to other reasons. You should consult a doctor for appropriate diagnosis and treatment of the rash. In the meanwhile, however you can start with a number of simple home remedies that help to treat skin rash.

It is never wrong to pamper your skin, especially not after pregnancy, so make sure you keep your skin clean by washing it gently using a mild soap or face wash with anti-bacterial ingredients and lukewarm water. Avoid using hot water since this can irritate the skin further causing the inflammation and rash to spread. Gently pat the skin dry and then moisturize it using a rich moisturizer enriched with cream, almond oil or vitamin E oil. Before you use a moisturizer, you should however check for possible allergies. Apart from these basic steps you can use some natural treatments as well to treat the rash. Turmeric is beneficial for treating all kinds of skin problems, so you can prepare a face pack by mixing turmeric powder in some rose water and applying it to your face daily, washing if off once it is dry. Alternately you can consume some freshly ground turmeric juice with some honey. This helps to treat the problem from within by getting rid of any toxic substances which may have caused the rash and improving the skin tone and texture. Basil leaves are also beneficial for treating rash so you can apply the freshly extracted juice of basil leaves on the affected patches and leave it overnight. Similarly mint leaves also help to soothe a rash, so you can wipe the affected area with a cotton ball that has been soaked in mint juice and wash the area using cold water after 15 to 20 minutes. Repeat this twice a day for best results.
