If you are suffering from excessive dandruff, then you need to work towards getting rid of it to start with. Taking care of your headache is a different matter altogether. While there is no medical evidence or scientific research to prove that the two are connected, it is possible that you can get a head ache due to the unpleasant smell as well as the thick and cloying nature of dandruff. If you have really thick and luxurious hair, then this will impact you more. This is because heavy hair also becomes sticky because of dandruff, which adds to the heaviness of your hair and may possibly tend to leave you feeling slightly headachy. An excellent way to keep and maintain a clean scalp is to wash your hair on a daily basis. There will be scores of people telling you that this is bad for your hair and so on, but please do not pay any heed to them. If you use a mild and gentle shampoo, there is no reason why you should not wash your hair every day. This is better for hair, if anything. You should also switch to a mild and gentle natural shampoo. Make it a rule never to use an anti dandruff shampoo, as this will only worsen your problem. Keep in mind that these types of shampoos can work on your hair and scalp only till such time as they are actually physically present on the hair and scalp. Once washed off, they cease functioning almost at once. An excellent remedy is to add a few drops of tea tree oil to your regular shampoo and stir it up. Then it can be used as usual.

Lemon juice is also a very good remedy to use on your scalp. You can simply slice a lemon in half and use one half to scrub your scalp well and thoroughly. This will have the effect of removing the dandruff from the roots. You need to leave the lime juice in your scalp for about 10 minutes, or till it begins to itch, whichever happens first. This is the indicator which will tell you that the lime is working its effects. Try to sue this remedy about twice a week, as using more may end up damaging your hair. Lime juice is also acidic in nature, which can weaken your strands. You should also follow a few ground rules which will always keep your hair healthy and clean. Never tie your hair when it is wet, as this can give rise to dandruff quite easily. You should also avoid going out in a polluted or dusty environment when the hair is wet, as the dirt will stick.
