Vinegar has acidic nature which damages hair

When I was a kid, we seldom used a cream rinse or conditioner after shampooing. Mom rinsed hair with mixture of warm water and vinegar which rinsed shampoo out of hair. Is vinegar a good conditioner?

Vinegar is a strong acidic substance that should not be used on hair, even in a diluted capacity. While it is true that it will successfully remove all traces of shampoo from your hair, it is equally true that it will also damage the hair shaft and make it weaker with prolonged usage. At the time when your mother was using this to finally rinse your hair, keep in mind that the products made for regular use in the hair were also fairly strong in nature. They would need an extra push to get them out of hair, and vinegar would be able to provide this extra push quite easily and effectively. Also, dues to its nature, vinegar would also provide a coat of sheen to hair that would be deemed attractive. This is a natural and extremely mild bleaching effect that vinegar would have on hair. This is probably the reason why this was considered to be a good conditioner for hair. If you wish to use natural conditioners for your hair, the first thing you need to ascertain is that they are not acidic in nature. Yogurt is one of the best natural conditioners that can be used for hair. Use plain and unflavored yogurt for excellent results. All you would need to do is apply it and leave it in your hair and scalp for about half an hour before shampooing.

Another excellent natural hair care conditioner is hair oil. Try to use this at least once a week. It will not only make your hair feel better after a bath, it will also add nourishment to your scalp, which is very important for the health of your hair. You can choose from oils such as olive, coconut, lavender, almond and castor. All of them will provide your hair with essential fatty acids and will help to prevent drying. You can warm the oil slightly and use your fingertips to apply it into your scalp and throughout your hair. Leave it on overnight and then wash it off with your regular shampoo the next morning. Blend equal amounts of raw milk, fresh cream, honey and coconut milk. Apply this to your hair and leave it on for at least an hour before you shower. This is a natural pre-wash conditioner that will prevent your hair from frizzing and will give it a natural healthy shine.
