Rashes can occur on any part of the body as natural reaction to an allergen or because of a skin condition, which has led to an inflammation of the skin. The main symptoms of rash include red patches which itch, but sometimes the itching can also be accompanied by a tingling or burning sensation and even mild pain. Sometimes the affected skin is covered with small red bumps which can cause discomfort in addition to the itching. The main reasons rashes on the face include allergic reactions to food products consumed or cosmetic products which do not suit your skin. Facial rash can also be caused due to genetic factors, bacterial or fungal infections and acne or pimples. It is important to correctly diagnose the reason for the rash before you start any treatment, but if you notice that the rash appears or intensifies after you eat a particular product or when you use a certain brand of cosmetics, you should immediately isolate the allergen and stop consuming it. Apart from this, you should try and keep your skin as clean as possible by washing it gently using an antibacterial soap and lukewarm water. Avoid using hot water because it can intensify the inflammation and rash. Once you have washed your face, pat it dry, using a soft face towel or tissue paper. Avoid rubbing or scrubbing your face since that can aggravate the rash.
In addition to these simple measures, you can resort to a number of home remedies that can help to control the rash and relieve the discomfort. You can soothe the itching sensation by applying a cold compress on the affected skin. Apart from cold compresses, application of fresh Aloe Vera gel is also beneficial for soothing the itching and cooling the inflamed skin. You can slice open a leaf of the Aloe Vera plant and use the juice extracted from its fleshy pulp. This works best if it is left overnight on the skin. You can also apply some olive oil on the affected skin and allow it to stay overnight before you wash it off using cold water. The olive oil helps to soothe the itching and also treats the infection. Apart from olive oil - cod liver oil and Vitamin E oils are also beneficial for treating rashes. An immediate remedy for soothing the itching sensation is application of some baking soda on the affected area. Alternately you can soak a face towel in a mixture of water and calcium gluconate and gently pat the affected skin with the soaked towel. A face pack prepared by cooking some oatmeal and grinding it to a paste can be applied on the face to soothe the itching and treat the rashes. Apart from this, you should avoid using all cosmetic products, allowing the skin to breathe till the rash has been treated. If the rash persists, you should consider consulting a dermatologist for adequate treatment.
