Soothing lotions for scalp to stop itching

I wear wigs and hair itches badly. It started when I went to hairdresser two times. They cut it and ever since it is itching and breaking. I stopped wearing a wig from yesterday but it is still itching.

There could be a number of possible reasons for this situation. One of the reasons being that the remnant hair from the hair cut is still on your scalp and poking into your skin. The chances of this being the reason is very high, especially if you didn't wash your scalp after the hair cut. If this is not the reason for the itching then it could also be that after the hair cut, your wig actually sat better over your head and covered it so well that it trapped heat and moisture leading to itching. In addition the perfectly fitting wig could cause excessive perspiration due to trapped heat, which could lead to the soaking and leeching out of the chemicals present in the wig. The chemicals released could irritate the scalp on constant interaction. You might also want to check the area of the wig that has contact with your scalp for any malformations or rough surfacing that could rub against your scalp and irritate it, causing it to itch.

If you use glue with your wig then this also would be a cause for concern but since this is the first time it is happening after going to a specific hairdresser, this is unlikely. At this point, a good course of action would be to get another hair wash and also to shampoo and condition your wig. If you are using a wig made out of synthetic material then you can use fabric softener and detergent for this, but if your wig is made out of human hair then you should use regular hair care products. Any surface that comes into contact with the human skin will retain an amount of dead skin cells and the secretions from the skin. This is an ideal medium for bacteria to grow, and just like the human body will start to itch after a prolonged period of not bathing, an area that fosters the same bacteria will also make the skin itch because the same bacteria are at work here as well.

Should this solution not be sufficient, it would make sense to stop wearing the wig for sometime and put some soothing lotions on your scalp to stop the itching. Once this is done, you might want to invest in a new wig that does not give you the same problem. The chances of the same problem occurring again are close to zero with this method.
