For treating itchy skin rashes lessen the deposits of perspiration

I get a rash when skin is exposed to air. When I get home from work and take clothes off for a bath my skin starts to itch. Is there a reaction to air hitting the skin?

Medically and scientifically, there is nothing which can prove that air can cause any sort of allergy to the skin. However, it is well established and documented that there could be something present in the air that is causing your skin to have this reaction. To begun with, you should check your surroundings at home. It is possible that you are residing in some place where there is an abundance of chemicals in the air. These could be causing your skin to itch the moment you expose it. Sometimes, it is also possible that your room has a lot of dust or some other substance is present in the air in your room. This could also be causing this sort of a reaction. If your room is enclosed and heated or cooled, then this usually causes circulation of stale air. This could be another reason why you are troubled with this particular problem. When there is too much of stale air circulating all over the place, it could also become unhygienic and unsafe to live in. Once you have examined these possibilities you will know if you need to look elsewhere for the cause of this most unusual problem you have.

Another strong possibility is that the itching you experience is caused due to heavy perspiration. If you do sweat profusely normally, then you should be aware that sometimes there is excess salt present in perspiration as well. If you do experience this problem, then the moment you take your clothes off and expose your skin to cool air, the salt will dry up and start to itch. You should examine your body and see if this is the case with you. If it is, then you can take care of the situation to some degree by applying baby powder all over your body. This will help a little. You should also try to have a bath at least twice a day, which will help with lessen deposits of perspiration. If none of these reasons apply to you, then you should try and visit a dermatologist to have your skin examined. This is a skin specialist who will be able to tell you exactly what the problem is with your skin after examining you physically. This is also an important aspect, as an accurate diagnosis cannot be made unless and until your skin has been seen by a doctor who will know what to look for.
