Grey hair treatment Hair turns gray when the hair roots stop producing pigment — the individual hairs are not actually gray but white or colorless, however the mixture of gray and white on the head gives the impression of gray color. This usually happens after the age of 30. However, some people have hair that is mostly black even when they are approaching 50, while others start graying well before they reach the age of 30.
To some extent, this can be caused by diet and environmental factors. A deficiency of minerals or vitamins, or even general malnutrition may reduce the body's ability to produce melanin, thus causing hair to turn gray. This is a problem that can be easily prevented by ensuring that your diet is complete and well balanced. In some cases however, gray hair can be caused by some other disorder, such as pernicious anemia. There is unfortunately no surefire way to protect yourself from the millions of disorders that exist. The best you can do is to eat well, stay active, and avoid stress. One other factor that can cause hair to turn gray prematurely is smoking, so if you want to avoid premature graying, you should avoid smoking.
To some extent however, graying of hair is determined by genetics, so if it is in your genes to turn gray at the age of 25, there is nothing you can do about it.
