Your hair has been weakened and that is the reason why you have split ends. A split end is basically a hair that breaks off due to stress factors like heat, chemicals and excessive or incorrect combing. There is no treatment for split ends and you will have to take better care of your hair while it grows and then cut off the affected parts until you have corrected the problem. You should possibly re-examine the way that you comb your hair to a gentler method. There is also a possibility that the water that you are bathing in is hard water, this can wreak havoc in the hair. Before you try any suggested solutions, eliminate the possibility of hard water being the culprit for your weakened hair. When you are taking a bath the next time, do not stand under the shower and instead try to fill a bucket or the sink with water and add some squeezed lemon juice to eliminate the dissolved calcium salts.

The best solution in the interim is to start using conditioners that are more suited to your hair this will help you correct the problem cosmetically. Conditioners have many uses from repairing your hair to moisturizing it. For your specific problem, you need to use a combination of conditioners, using them by alternating their application. The first conditioner that you need to buy is damage control or reconstructor conditioner. This type contains proteins that form cross-linking polymers in your hair strands and strengthens it. In the next wash, you need to use a detangler conditioner, which will make you hair easier to comb. Finally, add to your stock of conditioners one that contains oils and essential fatty acids. This will smoothen out the hair even further.

When you use a conditioner, you should also apply it correctly. The correct way to wash the hair is to dampen the hair under cold water so that the skin tightens up and grips the hair tightly. Next, apply the shampoo over the hair starting at the scalp, as this is where it is required the most. Massage your scalp for a minute and run your fingers through your hair to clean any dirt off the hair. Rinse under warm water and then apply the conditioner. It is a common mistake to apply conditioner to the scalp. Conditioners are products that you should only use on the hair. Run your fingers through your scalp after applying conditioner, wait for a few minutes and then rinse it off.
