It seems like you have simply suffered some bruising due to the impact from the air bags. If the injury is very painful or if you find it very difficult to use the affected hand, it may be advisable to have it looked at by a doctor, just in case there is some more serious injury. However, if it is only a simple bruise, it should be possible to treat it with some basic home remedies.

A bruise is basically damage to the capillaries, the tiniest blood vessels in the body. The sudden pressure caused by the impact from a blunt object (in this case the air bags) damages the capillaries, resulting in blood seeping into the surrounding tissue. The discoloration that you see is only due to the blood that has pooled under the skin. Since your skin does not seem to have broken, the injury is unlikely to have any lasting effect, such as a scar. You can probably expect more discoloration as the bruise heals however. The color of a bruise often changes from red to purple, then black, and finally yellow, after which it completely disappears. This is due to the breakdown of hemoglobin in the blood that has seeped into the tissues. It may look quite terrible to you, but it is a sign that the injury is healing.

The only treatment that is needed is a combination known as RICE - rest, ice, compression, and elevation. Do not strain your hand for at least a week, and possibly more, depending upon how bad the injury is. Once the bruise seems considerably better, you can start to massage it gently, and even stretch it slowly, several times a day. During the first few days particularly, regular application of ice will also help to reduce both the pain and the swelling. For compression, you can use a simple elastic bandage which can be bought at any medical store. However, if you are not sure how to tie the bandage, either get it done by a nurse or doctor, or skip this part of the treatment entirely. Finally, keep your hand at an elevated height whenever possible, especially during the first few days.

It is also important that you keep your skin clean at all times, especially if you have developed blisters as you mentioned. Do not try to burst the blisters, but if they do not disappear within a week, do consult a doctor.
