It is impossible for someone who is black to become white, except perhaps if you are interested in undergoing extensive cosmetic surgery, which will in any case not give you a natural look and is not advisable. Your skin color is determined by your genes, and there is very little you can do about it. Some home remedies and other measures may have a marginal effect, but your skin color is certainly not going to change from black to white. Even if you were speaking very loosely when you said "black", I assume that your skin color is quite dark. To the extent that this dark color is the result of a tan, you may be able to lighten your skin, but turning it white is out of the question.

Skin color depends on the amount of melanin pigment in your skin, and this in turn depends on your genes. All of us have more or less the same number of melanocytes (special skin cells that produce melanin) in our skin, but our genes determine how much melanin the melanocytes produce. Obviously, the more melanin there is in your skin, the darker it is. Since it is impossible to change your genes, it is impossible to decrease the amount of melanin that is produced by the melanocytes.

It is however possible to increase the amount of melanin that is produced, and this usually happens when your skin is exposed to sunlight. Melanin serves a protective function - it blocks harmful UV rays that would otherwise damage skin. The more melanin there is in your skin, the better protected you are. In a way therefore, having dark skin can be a good thing. However, since you are unhappy with your skin color, you should stay out of the sunlight whenever possible. Avoid going outdoors during sunlight hours, and when you must venture into the sun, ensure that your clothes cover up as much skin as possible and also that you wear an adequate amount of sunscreen with an SPF of at least 25. If your skin has gotten dark due to exposure to sunlight, it will gradually get lighter once this exposure is reduced. Melanin production will return to normal levels (as determined by your genes), and the excess melanin that has been produced so far will be discarded. Of course, as mentioned earlier, this will not make your skin white. It will only return to its natural color, which may be a couple of shades lighter than the tan.
