Birthmark removal advice

Laser surgery is the most commonly used method of removal, for birth marks, and is relatively safe and in most cases leaves no scars. Birthmarks come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colours. While most are small, and barely noticeable, or are hidden by clothing, some are more pronounced, and some may even pose a health risk.

Cosmetic surgery has been a rapidly evolving discipline and over the past decade or so, its technology has advanced a lot, becoming much safer and more effective.

Birthmarks that are close to the surface can be shrunk or completely eliminated using laser therapy. The type of treatment would depend on the evaluation made by a cosmetic surgeon, depending on the size, type, and location of the birthmark. Every surgery differs, as does every birthmark.

The surgery is relatively painless, but there could be a mild burning sensation. If you are going through the surgery only for cosmetic reasons, it would make sense to keep in mind that there is always a possibility of infection and scarring with almost any skin surgery, and it makes no sense trading one blemish for another. Consult with a surgeon about the risks, and inform the surgeon of any allergies or medical conditions you suffer from.
