While acne is by and large considered a rather harmless condition, it is known to cause permanent scarring, disfigurement and emotional trauma Acne is one of the most common conditions in the world and can be caused by a number of variables. What essentially happens when there is an outbreak, though, is quite straightforward. A number of bacteria live on the human skin. This bacterium is always present no matter how many times you wash your face or skin. At most times, the bacteria are harmless. This is until it comes with some type of stimulant as the type created in the lead up to an outbreak of acne.
The human skin contains a number of pores which are opening in the upper layers o the skin allowing the natural oils created in the sebaceous glad to be emitted onto the skin. These pores also house the roots of a strand of hair that guides the oil to the upper layers of the skin. At times though, the hair, sebum and keratinocytes (cells which line the hair) may create a blockage in the pore causing there to be a buildup of the oil within the pore. The oil may react with the bacteria on the skin causing it to become infected. On the outside, this will start to look like a pimple or zit. Very often, a person will proactively burst the pimple, allowing the infection to spread to a larger area, thus resulting in an outbreak of acne. When the acne is chronic, the skin pores get blocked very often leading to a continuous cycle of the condition.
Some home remedies you could use to reduce the effects of chronic acne are:
- Create a paste by mixing honey and cinnamon powder and apply it over the pimples before retiring for the night. Let the paste be on the pimples over night and wash it off in the morning with some warm water. Apply the paste for 2 weeks to see substantial results.
- Mix 1 tablespoon of groundnut oil with another tablespoon of fresh lime juice to prevent the formation of black heads and acne.
- Orange peel is known to work wonders with acne trouble. Grind some orange peels together with water to create a paste and then apply it over the pimples.
- You could also apply ripe tomato pulp over the pimples and wash it off after an hour.
