With hair style and conditioning taking top priority today, a number of people tend to overwork and over treat their hair in a number of ways. Although this looks like a good option at first, it can induce more damage than the good it was intended to implement. The consumer market is full of not only oils and hair care products like moisturizers and shampoos but also with appliances such as hair straighteners , curling irons and blow dryers that, when used incorrectly of excessively can damage the hair considerably. Very often, the best solution to turn to when hair is substantially damaged is the natural method of oil treatment. Oil treatments have stood the test of time and help greatly in adding moisture and shine to your hair, making it look healthier in the process. Depending on the extent of damage of the hair, you may want to consider hot oil treatments more regularly, but it should normally be performed at a frequency of once a week. Most of the time, people choose to perform an oil treatment by buying a tube of oil from a store , heating it and massaging the hot oil into the scalp and the rots of the hair. While this method is adequate and can still show noticeable results, you should make sure that the tube of oil purchased contains essential natural oils. Coconut oil is also highly recommended as it helps condition the scalp while softening the hair. When applying the hot oil to the head, make sure that all the hair has been exposed to the hot oil as if some parts are not exposed to it, these parts can become weaker than other parts of the hair. When done, rinse the hair and the scalp under running water, thoroughly. You can then proceed to shampoo your hair.

Some of the great advantages of hot oil treatments are that you can accomplish the entire procedure in the comfort of your own home. There is no need to visit a saloon for the treatment and no expense needs to be incurred by buying expensive oils. In fact you can make your own oil for the treatment. Do this by using half a cup of soybean oil, 8 drops of lavender oil, 8 drops of sandalwood oil and 8 drops of geranium oil. Simply combine these ingredients and microwave them together for about 25 seconds and you have your own home made hair oil.
