Dark lips home remedies One or two cups of tea or coffee a day will not have any effect on your lips. Using a mixture of glycerine, lemon and honey will help to remove the discolouration. Make a lip scrub by mixing a teaspoon of sugar with a little bit of olive oil and a few drops of lemon juice. Before going to sleep, gently scrub your lips to help to exfoliate your lips and use a little clarified butter with 2 drops of lemon to moisturise and lighten them.
Lips often turn dark after years of being exposed to the sun. Make sure that you use either a lipstick or a lip balm that has a sunscreen, as UV rays can cause pigmentation.
Make sure that you use lipsticks manufactured by reliable brands only and never try to use a lipstick that has expired. You can have a severe allergic reaction that can leave your lips blackened for life. Make sure that you wipe off your lipstick when you are at home. After wiping off your lipstick, dab a little Vaseline on your lips and wipe it off with a tissue to remove all traces of it.
Make sure that you drink a lot of water and try to maintain a balanced diet. If you are not satisfied with the results, you can use a lip lightening cream though you should use this only as a last option.
