A number of people are finding some scars on their face to be quite traumatic. While some men like the presence of scars on their face as a symbol of their masculinity, a scar can be quite unappealing on a woman. This is the foremost reason behind the fact that the cosmetic industry spends billions of dollars every year to create products that will remove even the slightest blemishes from a persons face. Not only that, the levels of unhappiness that some people feel when they have a scar can lead them to take drastic measures to correct the issue like plastic surgery. When a person gets injured badly enough for the dermis, or upper layers of the skin, to be severely damaged, the human body will automatically start to use its resources to heal the wound on its own. However, there are times when the new tissue that it creates is not as effective as the original tissue and the new tissue is made of completely new tissue matter. The newly formed tissue acts as a protective barrier more than anything else and, when completely healed, is known as scar tissue. Scar tissue is void of any sweat glands, hair follicles and even has a much lower resistance to ultra violet radiation due to the damage to the original tissue. Apart from physical trauma like accidents, scars can be attained due to an infection as well. Infections like acne normally entice the sufferer to scratch the pimples, which then form permanent scars on the skin layers.

Some home remedies that you could try to reduce the prominence of the scars include using a bit of cucumber and squeezing the juice out of it. Apply the juice over your face and let it rest for about 15 minutes before washing it off with cold water. You could also try applying some essential oil of lavender around the scar with the help of a cotton ball. Do this twice a day. As you rightly mentioned, cocoa butter and vitamin E are two of the most utilized substances when it comes to returning a healthy glow back to the skin. You can choose to apply either of the substances topically to the scar to help reduce its prominence while also nourishing the skin. Another very successful home remedy is the application of honey over the scar several times a day. Aloe vera gel is extremely popular these days because of its miraculous effectiveness when dealing with skin conditions. Apply some of this to your skin regularly to see substantial results.
