A permanent hair straightening requires the use of chemicals and this basically means that you want to use a hair relaxer. This treatment is permanent to the effect that it will work on the current set of hair that you have but as soon as your hair begins to grow, the new hair will not be chemically relaxed and you will have to redo the treatment.

Relaxers are not a completely safe solution. This is because once you use this product, there is nearly no way that you can return back immediately. In addition, the way that relaxers work is by breaking down the hydrogen bonds that bind your hair together. Once this happens, your hair is weakened and prone to breaking off. Another danger that you could face is hair loss and this can be quite severe when used over a period of time - to the point that you could end up balding. If you really want to go for this option then it is advisable to do this procedure at a hair salon and with a relaxer that does not contain lye as this could damage you scalp quite badly. You might also want to ask your neighborhood salon if they are familiar with Japanese hair straightening and Brazilian hair straightening methods.

An alternative to this would be to stick to heat treatments or even use conditioners that can chemically relax your hair. These are not permanent solutions but they are much safer to use especially from a long-term perspective. Try to invest in a hair iron that would make this process easy to do at home as well. This also allows you a great deal of control on when you want a straight look or when you want a curly look. A hot iron applies heat of up to four hundred degrees Fahrenheit, or about two hundred degrees Centigrade. The hair should be in layers and dry before starting this straightening process and should be run over between the clamps of the hair iron. Spend some time doing this as it could even take up to an hour just to do this. This kind of treatment would work very well for a period of time, and your hair will remain straight until you get it wet again. While you are following this treatment, it is also important to start using more specialized conditioners like thermal protectors and conditioners with essential fatty acids. Thermal conditioners will give you a level of protection against the heat treatments and the conditioner with essential fatty acids will replace the natural sebum that is lost when heating is done.
