Fruits for summer Most people have a tendency to higher consumption of aerated drinks and beverages in summer to beat the heat, and avoid dehydration, but fruits that are abundant in summer are a much better alternative. Fruits help cool your body, prevent dehydration, and can even help with weight loss, due to the high amounts of vitamin C.
Watermelon in particular is the best summer fruit, as it's high water content cools the body, and prevents dehydration. It is also rich in antioxidant lycopene and calcium. Watermelons are also a very good source of vitamins and even contain citrulline, which helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Peaches are another good summer fruit, and despite their sweetness, don't raise blood sugar levels. They are low in calories, high in vitamins and fibre, making them an excellent choice for a summer diet. Cherries are again great for a summer diet, because they are low in calories, but have a high value of vitamin C, vitamin E, and fiber. They are also a good source of magnesium, potassium, iron and folate.
