Acne is a common inflammatory skin condition that is characterized by pimples on the face, neck and chest. Acne occurs when skin pores become blocked with oil, dead skin cells and bacteria. Acne can either take the form of red bumps or blackheads and whiteheads. Blackheads result in follicles that have wider openings, in which the sebum and dead cells have undergone a chemical reaction leading to oxidation of melanin. This is what gives them the typical black color. Keeping your skin consistently clean and hygienic will help in combating acne. An overnight cure or one that can provide results in just two days cannot be found. Only a steady, daily skin care regimen will help in reducing acne to a great extent.

Cleansing the skin with a mild soap or face scrub helps in the removal of excess sebum and dead skin cells. For proper skin care, avoid oil-based make up, as it contributes to the build-up of oil in the pores. A very popular acne remedy is to apply toothpaste on the affected areas just before going to bed, washing it off in the morning. Repeat this several times until the acne clears. You can also make a paste of fresh fenugreek leaves and apply this on your face. Leave this on for about 15 minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water. Applying ripe tomato pulp on the affected areas is also effective. Another remedy is to take the juice of a lemon and mix with an equal quantity of rose water. Apply this to your face and leave it on for about half an hour. Repeat this for fifteen days. It is also a good idea to apply ice on the acne before going to bed. Other best skin care tips and remedies for acne is to apply a paste of sandalwood powder, turmeric and milk. You may also apply rose water on your face with a cotton ball about 2-3 times a day. Aloe Vera is a very effective herb in taking care of the skin and treating acne. You can apply the juice of the aloe vera leaves on the acne, or you can even take it internally. Ground orange peel mixed with water is another natural cure for acne. You may also mix dried basil leaves in water and bring it to a boil. After it cools, apply it to the face with a cotton ball.

Along with these natural remedies for skin problems like acne, it is also necessary to have a healthy diet and avoid excess of fried foods, chocolates and refined sugar. Also, if you use make-up, be sure to remove all traces of make-up at night before going to bed.
