Coarse hair can totally change the way you look and feel. It can be discomfiting to try new styles and wear it well. Coarse hair is one of the types of hair, and the reason for coarse hair could be due to over exposure to the sun, or pollution, or due to a lack of essential nutrients through the bloodstream to the hair and scalp. The other causes could be harsh shampoos, improper hair care and other styling products with alcohol.

There are plenty of home remedies and hair care tips which are helpful in making coarse hair softer. When you oil your hair try using warm oil. You can try coconut, olive, or jojoba oil for massaging your hair. Always massage with your fingertips; this will stimulate blood flow and open the hair follicles to absorb oil. Do not massage vigorously as it can make the hair brittle. After washing always use a wide toothed comb to detangle hair. You can add a few drops of essential oils of rose or lavender to the carrier oils. Leave it on for an hour or two before washing. You can also leave it overnight before washing. This will nourish, condition, and moisturize your hair well.

Try to prepare herbal oil at home. Heat one cup of coconut oil and turn off the heat when it starts to boil. Add one teaspoon of cumin seeds, dried rose petals, and basil leaves. Use this oil every day before washing.

You can try applying aloe vera gel on your hair and wrap it with a hot bath towel and wash after 20 minutes. Aloe vera is an excellent moisturizer and will leave your hair soft and silky. You can break open a vitamin E capsule and add the contents to the oil.

You can try using milder shampoos or herbal shampoos that include Indian gooseberry, basil, or Acacia concinna as active ingridients. Shampoo with warm water and rinse with cold water. Harsh and strong shampoos can dry your hair even further. Use shampoos with oil and protein content. Allow your hair to dry naturally and try to stay away from hair dryers as much as possible. Gently rub your hair after washing. Try using good conditioners and styling products. Try not to comb your hair when it is wet as hair is weak when wet. Brush gently to prevent breakage. Cut off split ends as soon as you spot them, otherwise they will make hair look more coarse and dry. Be patient in trying these remedies and you will find that your hair will become soft and silky.
