Hair growth on the face is an indication that you probably have some androgenic hair growth on the face. This is a perfectly normal condition in men after puberty as the male sex hormones start to manifest themselves by causing hair growth in the pubic regions and on the face. In women, this condition occurring is a problem called hirsutism and is an indication of a deeper problem. However, one should not jump to conclusions about the problem right away. The growth of hair should be one that is similar to male hair growth on the face and the type of hair should be of the consistency that one sees on a male face.
Hirsutism is generally a symptom of diseases like PCOD, obesity, insulin resistance, medications that block the action of estrogens or promote the production of androgens, and, in post-menopausal women, can be the effect of hypertrichosis. PCOD is a disease that causes cystic ovaries, which is further caused by an excessive amount of male androgen in the body of a female. Male androgen is usually the base from which estrogen is created in a woman's body but if this process is not efficient enough or there is kind of an ovarian malfunction, this conversion does not occur and male androgen then roams freely in the body. Obesity and insulin resistance are characteristic of an autoimmune disease called type 2 diabetes. This condition is different from the usual diabetes in that the body does create insulin, but the body tissues are resistant to the effects of insulin. This causes the pancreas to secrete an abnormal amount of insulin. These high levels of insulin can cause skin darkening and also activate the cells of the female reproductive system to create androgens. This is usually the reason why diabetes, obesity and hirsutism come together as a common set of complaints.
Treating this condition requires hair removal and the intake of anti-androgenic drugs. The drug tends to have some side effects on men but women actually benefit a lot from this drug. The only side effect that could occur is a lack of sexual desire as the hormone that controls sexual desire in women is curiously male androgen. If drug use is not an option then you should increase your intake of phytoestrogen. These are plant derived, natural estrogens that can be found in most vegetables, green leafy vegetables, nuts like almonds, and even in beer.
