Dermabrasion for chicken pox scar treatment

I came down with chicken pox 5 weeks ago. The doctor did not give the right medicine dosage hence I have many black marks all over the face and body. What can I use to get rid the marks quickly?

Chicken pox is a contagious infection caused by the herpes virus. You have already experienced the unpleasant blisters that erupt all over the body. These same blisters sometimes reach deep in the skin. When your blisters burst open, some of your tissue was also lost, causing a small pit or hole on the skin surface. These sunken recesses have now turned into small scars, causing the black marks on your body. While some research has been conducted on using natural treatments on these types of scars, it has been found that they are difficult to treat with home remedies. Doctors have tried using the healing properties of Vitamin E and onion extracts. The results have not been very positive and in some cases, the scars may even worsen.

A traditional method used is a cosmetic operation called dermabrasion, where the top layer of the skin is removed by sanding it to reduce the skin discoloration. However, it is an extremely painful operation and the skin can take months to heal. A similar option called chemical peeling that is less painful can also be used. In this case, cosmetic surgeons use chemicals to blister the surface of the skin and remove it. This leaves behind visibly smoother skin with reduced discoloration. This treatment is more useful for small areas and not over the entire body. Within cosmetic surgery, your best chances are with laser treatments. Small bursts of light energy burn away only the scarred and discolored areas. Your body will then naturally heal the micro-burns, reducing the earlier scarring. While this treatment can take several sessions and a few months, it is also the least painful.

If cosmetic surgery is not an option, you can consider biological treatments. You will need to begin as early as possible and be prepared to continue for a long treatment. Most biological treatments aim to stimulate growth of new, healthy cells in your scar-damaged areas. Many topical creams and ointments use, a substance called 'mucin' extracted from sea snails. This natural substance uses enzymes and biological processes to replace the damaged skin and speed up your body's natural healing process. You can also find over-the-counter products that contain an acid form of vitamin A and work by promoting the growth of collagen. Other products used for wrinkles may also help you in filling up the depressed scar tissue. However, it is recommended that you visit an expert dermatologist before selecting any treatment, since it is important you do not accidentally worsen the current level of scarring.
