Information on Eczema Disease
Eczema is a term that is used to describe a wide range of skin conditions, with the common factor being inflammation of the skin, dryness, and itching. In more severe cases of eczema, there may also be peeling or flaking of skin, blistering, and bleeding. Dietary treatment cannot be used for all types of eczema — it is useful only in cases where the condition is due to an allergic reaction to some food substance. This is of course not really treatment, but simply avoiding the allergens that set of the inflammatory reaction. Some eczemas are not related to allergies, while other allergic reactions may not be to food but to medication or other substances in the environment. In all such cases, dietary changes will be entirely useless.
If you or your doctor think that your condition could be due to something in your diet, you should perform a blood test to detect allergies. Such a test can be done at many testing laboratories today, and if you cannot find one in your area, your doctor will be able to help you. If an allergy is detected, you will simply need to keep away from that substance, whether in food or in your environment.
