Best hair style tips and advice for long face

I am late in 50s and have a long face that is just developing jowls, giving it a slight square look also a hint of a double chin. How should I wear my hair?

People with long faces are usually advised to get hairstyles that give the face more width and detract from the excessive length of the face. For this reason, a fringe is usually suggested - by shortening the forehead, it makes the face look less long. A side parting, with the hair sweeping across the face, also has a similar effect, giving the face more breadth. Long, straight hair is also generally avoided, as it tends to "stretch" the face further, making it look even longer than it naturally is. Instead, hair is kept shorter, and may be cut in steps if it is long. These are therefore things that you might want to avoid, now that your face is becoming squarer.

Instead, let your hair grow long - preferably till the shoulders. In case you prefer to keep your hair short, ensure that you cut it above your jaw line. Hair that ends at the jaw line tends to accentuate the jaw, and makes a square face look squarer. Short hair is sometimes better when dealing with a double chin, as it draws attention upwards, away from the chin and jaw. You can still cut your hair in layers, and even keep a fringe, but ensure that the fringe is not too long. Avoid tying your hair, as your face will probably look squarer when your hair is pulled back. If you must tie your hair, try keeping a few strands free, so as to soften the lines of your face.

As you can see, there are several options that you can choose from, and there are no hard and fast rules. You can simply use these guidelines to find a hairstyle that you like. In addition, each face is finally different from every other face, even if you fall into the same category of square, round, and so on. You will therefore need to figure out what exactly works for you, and the best way to do this is to ask your hairdresser. An experienced professional will be able to guide you taking into account your features, your personality, and your tastes.

You should also remember that make up can be of considerable help in drawing attention away from your double chin. Nicely done lips and highlighted cheekbones help in this way. In addition, simply paying attention to the way you hold your head will help a great deal. Always hold your head up - slouching or slumping will accentuate your chin.
