The options to remove unwanted hair on the body are many, but unfortunately none of the natural methods work to get rid of the hair permanently. The only available permanent methods of hair removal are electrolysis, laser hair removal and the use of intense pulsed light. However, these methods are also imperfect and cannot guarantee complete permanent hair removal in all individuals. They are also very expensive procedures and can only be performed by trained professionals. On the brighter side, there are several natural hair care remedies by which you can get rid of unwanted hair on a temporary basis. You can select the one that suits you, or you may also use a combination of these methods.
Waxing is the most popular and effective method of hair removal, especially when removing big amounts of hair, such as that on the arms and legs. This method involves pulling out the hair from the roots. Hot wax is applied to the skin and strips of cloth are used to pull the hair out in the direction opposite to the hair growth. It is important to ensure that you don't burn the skin while applying the hot wax. Cold wax is also readily available and generally comes attached to the strips. An alternative to this method is sugaring. This is done in the same way as waxing, but instead of the wax, a sugar based substance is applied on the skin. This can be made easily at home using sugar, honey and lemon juice. This substance can be readily washed off with water, and as such is more convenient to use than wax. Shaving is also a commonly used method, but the effects are very short-term. This is because the hair is only removed from the skin surface, leaving the roots intact. It is helpful to apply a moisturizer before shaving the hair, so that the razor does not scrape or cut the skin. Depilatory creams and lotions can also be used to remove unwanted hair. These may cause an allergic reaction in some people, and hence a patch test must be done prior to using them.
You can also try using some simple hair care tips and home remedies that will discourage hair growth over a period of time. A paste of gram flour and turmeric may be applied to the hands and legs. This helps to reduce excessive hair growth. You can also scrub the hands and legs with a pumice stone daily. This will take some time to take effect, but if done regularly will gradually result in diminished growth of unwanted hair.
