The texture of hair depends on a number of factors. Pollution, constant exposure to the harmful rays of the sun, heat, harsh hair care products and repeated hair treatments can damage hair leaving it dull and dry. Hormonal imbalances, prolonged illness, some medications, and stress also contribute to making your hair dry and lifeless. Dry hair tends to look like straw and is prone to split-ends. Simple remedies, followed as a routine, will gradually make your dull and dry hair look amazing.

The hair products that you use play an important role in the texture of your hair. Avoid the use of shampoos, hair gels and other hair products that have high chemical content as they tend to do more damage than good. Washing your hair daily and blow drying it regularly also dries the hair. Instead, wiping your hair with a towel and allowing it to dry naturally will prevent the damage caused by a blow dryer. Since hair is weak when wet, it is recommended that you avoid combing your hair when it is damp. This should be done only when your hair has dried properly. Running your fingers through your hair will help detangle knots and reduce instances of breakage and hair fall. Using hair serum after a bath will also help to make your hair silky. Hair treatments like perming, straightening and coloring should be avoided as these treatments dry and damage the hair further. When exposed to the sun, covering your head with a scarf is recommended to shield your hair from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun.

The secret to beautiful hair is keeping it healthy and nourished. Besides a healthy hair diet to nourish the hair internally, a hot oil massage nourishes the hair externally, making it healthy. Take equal parts of coconut oil, olive oil and almond oil. Heat this mixture, and using a cotton ball, apply the oil carefully to the roots of the hair. Then gently massage the scalp with circular movements of the fingertips. This will increase the blood circulation in the scalp leaving the hair nourished. Covering the hair with a hot, moist towel immediately after the massage will make the treatment more effective. A hair pack made by mixing ripe bananas and beaten curd is believed to improve hair texture almost immediately. Apply this mixture to the hair, ensuring that the strands are covered from root to tip. Wash your hair with a mild shampoo after 15-20 minutes. Another effective natural hair care remedy is massaging the scalp with aloe gel and washing the hair after an hour so. This gradually improves the texture of hair.
