Today's world is full of quick fix solutions for a number of physical and appearance related problems. We are spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing products in hair care, skin care as well as any other cosmetic deformity one can imagine. This however, has led to a number of people not understanding that most of the problems they face are a direct result of the kind of lifestyle that they exert their bodies to. Unless you were born with dark skin, in which case you would have to learn to accept and cherish your complexion, chances are that the dark skin is a consequence of exposing your skin to significant amounts of sunlight. The sun emits a number of harmful ultraviolet rays that could cause cell augmentation and even cell cancer. The skin uses its defense mechanism to produce a darker tone of pigmentation as this helps it counter the damaging effects of exposure to ultraviolet radiation. The melanocytes cells, are the cells in the skin that create the skins coloring agent called melanin, it is normally distributed evenly over the areas of the skin that are exposed to the harmful rays of the sun. At times, however, if excessive quantities of melanin are created, the melanin starts to collect in certain areas of the skin - causing these patches to appear darker than the surrounding layers of the skin. Hyperpigmentation, as this condition is called, can also be caused by a reaction of your skin to chemicals present in your skin care products, skin conditions like acne and chicken pox or even injuries to the skin.
Some useful home remedies that you could use to lessen the prominence of the darker spots are to mix the contents of a vitamin E capsule with some castor oil and spread it over the pigment areas or even take equal amounts of water and vinegar and use the solution to thoroughly clean your skin. Lemon is considered to be a natural bleaching agent and applying some of it over the affected parts of the skin for about 20 minutes before your bath will also have a gradual effect in reducing the darkness of your skin. When orange peel is powdered and mixed with some raw milk, it can have a substantial effect when applied over the skin. Massaging the skin with some cocoa butter two times a day will also help reduce the prominence of any darkness of your skin.
